Greg is also planning to start adding GLSL fragment and vertex shader tutorials to the site soon. This tutorial is a little more advanced, so make sure you understand the previous lessons before you jump into this tutorial. Allows the user to create effects by composing them.

I am currently porting it to WebGL as well. One of the more interesting announcements is the inclusion of a new royalty-free texture compression extension called ASTC. The entire level was designed in Opdngl this weekend. Although Mesa works on multiple platforms, including Windows, it's on open source operating systems like Linux where it is most important.

There is a really interesting video from the recent GDC conference that goes into detail about how Valve and Nvidia ported the Source engine to the Linux platform. It doesn't sound like much, but this tuorials will be the framework for every other tutorial I release in the next while. This means that if your graphics card is supported, you will get hardware-accelerated OpenGL 3.

NeHe's OpenGL Tutorials

Your imagination is the limit! In my perspective, is really hard when you have 20 shaders in your application and you discover that part of it is going to be outdoors, so you need to add fog. After watching this tutorial, you would have your basic blank "3D canvas" box cleared to black background. This tutorial is a combination of everything that you have learned up till now, along with information on how to move your object in 3D.
You can download the code at the end of the tutorial, but I definitely recommend you read over the tutorial at least once, before you start programming in OpenGL. This tutorial was made by a fellow programmer named Lionel Brits. The code is made using lesson 1 code, however, the tutorial web page only explains the NEW code used to load the 3D scene, and move around inside the 3D world.
